West Virginia Winter Wonderland

no comments

The nice thing about going away for the holidays is of course the possibility of snow – even if it’s not a ton!  While in West Virginia I revisited Stonewall Resort to shoot some additional images of their updated rooms, new Executive Chef and the Winterwonderland.  Although it was very cold (!)  there were only a couple of inches of snow on the ground and it was a bit tricky to get some images that give you the wintery feel.  The images below was shot before sunrise and I felt the early morning colors helped convey the cold winter aspect – even without mountains of snow….

Old Favorites

Every once in a while I like looking at my old stuff.  Of course these days the old stuff is mostly not very accessible because – IT IS ON FILM!  This makes it very time consuming and often times I just look through the negatives before putting them back on the shelf in a closet far, far away.  In an effort to get a more comprehensive website that reflects some of this old stuff I am digitizing ye old projects – well at least the best ones.  The image below was taken in 1996 –  meet my barber at the time “Mario”.  This guy was great – he had this funky shop in Boston’s North End, spoke mostly italian and made me feel like I was back in Europe – a year after I move to the US.  I ended up doing a whole series of the neighborhood – but this was the image that started it….

The newly constructed Millennium Tower in San Francisco is hosting the latest decorator showcase in the city.  The aptly named Icons of Design showcase is located on the 52 floor and features 25 local designers.  The showcase runs until the end of November and is open to the public –  a must see – here are some examples:

Tiburon Grill

no comments

I have been saying it for years – and it finally happened!  Last month we photographed the latest addition to great eateries on the Tiburon Penisula – the Tiburon Grill .  And we did it in BLACK&WHITE!!! It was so good to see a project done in this format – esp a restaurant where its almost always about the color.  I love it!  The Mill Valley Film Festival will be holding receptions for Clive Owen and Woody Harrelson there in October….

1906 Earthquake Shed

no comments

It looks like a little cabin in an enchanted forest – possible right out of Haensel& Gretel – but indeed it is one of the few surviving and privately owned shelters erected after the 1906 quake to provide housing and some level of stability to San Franciscans.  The completely restored shed is also beautifully appointed by Tiberian Design Principal Jon Freeman.

European Summer Travels

It is always fun to travel – but particulary when visiting friends and family!  In June the whole clan packed up and went to Germany for a european vacation without all the misfortunes and problems but no less fun than the Griswalds.
